i am not getting hp's new marketing strategy. first with the overdone gwen stefani ads and pics. now with "the computer is personal again" written in (forgot the name) that nightmare before christmas font. if they are trying to key in to the new global creativity facilitated by sites such as youtube and the like, then, in my opinion, they should play that card and only that card. it's like "ok this isn't working" so let's try "this", which doesn't create a consistent image for the company or what they are trying to do. first, consumers are supposed to be creative like gwen. ??? what's so creative about an all too known singer whose image is sold for profit? if they are going with "the computer is personal again" then perhaps they would be better off to show real people doing real things - more like Jones Soda. just my little opinion. as a consumer. someone who has to look at these ads and someone who has spent over 15 years in the marketing and ad business.
hp - get a clue... it's not working. decide on something and stick with it.
that people, myself included, supposedly think outside of? i'd love to hear your opinions......
incredible book. up there with time travelers wife. wow. just finished reading it. if you haven't and you've thought about it, i' highly recommend it. if you haven't thought about it, maybe it's time to. that is, if you like deep, compelling, stories that touch every aspect of what we humans call life.
i really wish i had the time or could get in the mood to take all the poetry i've written on here - it's really not all that much - and handwrite it in a journal or a book of it's own. i know i could do the print out thing, but it just doesn't seem as personal.
this is now on my list to do.
someday.
let's change that one tradition, eh?
example: what is wrong with this letter?

One of our driving precepts is to maximize engagement of the Aggie Network with both The Association and Texas A&M University. That is why I'm pleased to make you aware of an opportunity for learning and networking that promises to be one of the premier business events of 2008.
Texas A&M's Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship is hosting Envision '08 this coming April in San Antonio. The Center has designed Envision '08 as a two-day conference for businesses with vision—the kinds of companies Aggies are leading around the world.
The conference features keynote speakers such as Marcus Buckingham (author of Go Put Your Strengths to Work), Guy Kawasaki (entrepreneur, investor, author), Peter Schutz (former CEO of Porsche) and Stephen Covey (author and thought leader). Between keynotes will be workshops ranging from "Insights" by thought leaders to "How I did it workshops" led by experienced business leaders and "How to do it workshops" hosted by authors, entrepreneurs, educators and business advisers. The topics discussed will cover macro trends, funding issues, marketing and sales strategies, leadership, and productivity. Envision '08 will be a great chance to learn from and interact with the experts without leaving Texas. It will also be an opportunity to rub shoulders with like-minded business leaders from around the region to trade stories and develop valuable relationships.
You can learn more about Envision '08 from the attached brochure or by visiting www.envision08.com. The conference offers significant value, with all sessions, meals and networking events included. Because of your affiliation with The Association of Former Students, however, you qualify for a special $100 discount from the normal conference fee. To receive the discount, just enter "INVEST" as the promotional pricing code on the website and enter "AGGIES" when you are asked for a referral source.
As an Aggie, you know the value of networking. Please consider attending this important conference, and I wish you great success in 2008.
Thanks and Gig 'em,
