*Should* is the box. The constructions that define what I am supposed to see, think, feel, do, be. Regardless of where or who is imposing those constructions, *shoulds* are my box - and I work to stay outside of it ;)

there was a term i learned in undergraduate psychology. "musterbation" - included what a person felt they must, should, or ought to do. lol.

heh my prof used to say "don't should on yourself, it leaves a bad smell".

An interesting thing: my husband, who is an artist, was telling me the other day that on the small team he manages, the individuals with the perhaps more technically proficient but least creative work, were those with the most formal training. They've been trained to see their creativity in boxes, to limit creativity on the basis of what they've been told is possible.

the box is that which is considered 'normal' or 'standard'. To think outside of it is to be creative, insightful, imaginative. To think differently than most people.

For me it's looking beyond what "they" say I "should" see.
The Emperor isn't wearing any clothes
So the box would be not questioning what "they" the establishment tell me I should see. Like Fiona "should" is my box.

outside the box is the land of no thought. If you think too hard about things that will keep you inside the box. Because you can always make excuses or justify things if you think too hard about them. So the trick to getting outside the box is to not think too hard, just let your thoughts roam, like fog, so they can creep around and into all the nooks and crannies.
Thinking outside the box right now, fo rme, is trying to come up with a creative answer to your question!
cardboard mostly...

The Box is the everyday. The Box is vanilla. The Box is black and white.

Out of the Box is exotic, erotic, mocha and melon. Out of the Box is fushia and lime green.

I love Out of the Box :)

The "box" is a lie that we have been taught. It is a fake barrier, and it doesn't exist.
